It's official we have caught the travel bug. We are so eager now to travel the world more than ever before. We are prepared to sacrifice other things to allow us to see parts of the world we've never seen before. Early last year we decided that we would go interrailing around Europe. It always seemed like a distant dream until May this year.
In May we booked our interrail passes through interrail.eu. It was so exciting. When the package arrived we were just dying to get everything organised and planned. Planning our route was pretty simple as we knew exactly where we wanted to go and where we didn't. We wanted to see more of Eastern Europe as we've done a good few western Mediterranean cruises which gave us the opportunity to see a lot of Spain, France and Italy.
Our route is as follows:
We are starting our trip in go to link PARIS. We can barely hold in our excitement about visiting Disney Land for the very first time (long overdue) as we are major fans. We are well aware that Paris will cost us a pretty penny but we are going to try and do this leg of our trip as cheap as possible. We will be living on croissants. We have two days in the centre of Paris where we will cram in all of our sightseeing and then one day in Disney Land. This is probably one of the places we are most excited about as it is so iconic and we have never been there before. It is definitely one ticked off our bucket list.
go here AMSTERDAM
We will then board our first train of the trip to Amsterdam which will take approximately 3 hours and 17 minutes (hopefully). This is our first time in Amsterdam and we are most looking forward to the Anne Frank museum and the beautiful scenery at the canals. SarahJane is determined to get us on swings she has seen on Pinterest (Lukas and I aren't so keen). We have heard that Make Up Studio is very reasonably priced in Amsterdam but unfortunately that won't be accounted for in our budget (lol).
After three days in Amsterdam we will make our journey to Berlin. I (Kate) have been to Berlin twice before and absolutely love the city. I have seen all of the main tourist spots in Berlin but that won't stop me from returning again and again because it is such a unique city. There is so much history there that is really worth seeing and learning about if you are not familiar with it. A city once divided into East and West Berlin during the war is particularly interesting as the difference is still evident today. Berlin also has an amazing night life which I sampled when I went there last with my friends. We actually bought a 365 day bar crawl ticket for 12 euro. We definitely got our moneys worth when we arrived for the fourth night in a row.
Next up - Prague, also known as 'the city with a hundred spires'. We have heard that Prague is absolutely stunning and one of the most beautiful locations on our route. We will be sure to get some Instagram pics here. To be honest, I haven't done a lot of research into Prague yet and so would appreciate any recommendations.
We will have a pretty long journey from Prague to Budapest which is our next destination. We want to visit the iconic parliamentary buildings and the royal palace. One of the main reasons we had Budapest on our list was to go to the famous Szechenyi Bath which is one of the biggest natural hot spring spa baths in Europe. As well as that we can't wait to take a river cruise down the Danube.
We will then board the train from Budapest to the stunning Ljubljana in Slovenia. This is where you see all those beautiful Instagram pictures of people on the lake in front of the beautiful castle. It was somewhere we all definitely wanted to visit but know very little about.
We end our trip and fly home from Venice. Venice is so picturesque. It is one of the most romantic places on earth but more importantly the food there is unbelievable. We will definitely be carb loading on pasta and pizza in Venice. We will be sure to go to the Piazza San Marco, the grand canal and Saint Mark's Basilica.
We will be sure to document our entire trip. We aren't sure how exactly we are going to do it. We would love your help if you would prefer blog posts after each place which we could do on the trains, vlogs uploaded to youtube when we are home or regular Facebook and Instagram updates. Ofcourse we will be on our snapchat: styledbysisters the whole time so you can see how we cope interrailing with one small bag each (we are very concerned).
